Take Your Time
Take Your Time is a line of apparel designed for people interested in lifestyle fashion, design & the visual environment, a unique combination which I’ve dubbed ‘creative comfort’. This body of work is a creative exercise that explores my philosophy around developing and making apparel inspired by photography, not coincidentally documented, promoted & marketed through a corresponding style of photography. My connection to the environment has played a pivotal role in the creation of the apparel brand. The ways in which I interact with and record my environment through photography are meant to create not only a visual experience but a sensory one too. The hope is that when someone wears or views the clothes the photographic work will elicit a sensory experience triggered by the imagery. The locations which inspired the individual pieces, along with the locations where the images were captured to market those pieces, were very much of a similar and connected origin. The result being an intertwined language between photography, product and marketing. When looking at the work, the hope is the audience will appreciate how my surroundings were the muse and inspiration for the clothing line that I have been lucky to physically execute through tangible, wearable fashion. The intention of presenting my work as an experience is that it will assist in sharing the concept of the physical environment as inspiration. As the audience walks through the display they will be immersed in the actual locations that sparked my creativity. My interest in developing a photography-inspired brand of apparel was in creating a simple means of bringing the creative expression of photography into a medium not generally associated with photography, that being clothing – a common, everyday item we all interact with through both necessity and a personal expression of style and creativity.
