Nightlife, to me, is fundamental for my relationships, my sanity, my growth and my understanding of myself and those around me. I decided to capture all of the intimate moments in my life, within my relationships, regardless of day or night. I've always loved using older mediums like film and it was important to me that I filmed as many people and as much content as possible because I wanted to capture all moments, not just the exciting ones. I used a really old video camera that I received as a gift when I was a child because I wanted to create a sense of nostalgia – in the form of a series of GIFS – that brings comfort and reminds the audience of their childhood, their intimate moments, their memories. The grid I have created encompasses many moments throughout the semester, from peak lockdown up to the first week the dance floors opened up again. These GIFS are a reflection of the joy and love I received from all those closest to me, from morning to night, and captures the essence of freedom. I collated the videos with the most authentic displays of genuine emotion that were imperative for my final work. I find all of these GIFS sum up my semester in a provocative yet engaging way and give the audience a sneak peak into my world and those who are in it.
