Pulang, which in Indonesian translates to 'Going Home', is a body of work exploring my experience as an Indonesian currently living in Melbourne. It reflects the relationship that I have with my culture growing up, my home town Jakarta and my experience living in Melbourne for the past four years. I always seek inspiration from my surroundings. While creating this series I was inspired by architecture and landmarks in the city of Melbourne. The series follows three models wrapped in ANW garments inspired by the traditional Javanese-Chinese Kebaya Encim. The fashion and the environment reflects the contrast between the two cultures I have experienced.
