Little Consumer

My project Little Consumer examines the relationship between consumerism and the young. There is an apparent paradox between the objects of desire presented to the young and to their future in terms of the sustainability of the earth. I have gathered an archive of these objects – collections of desirable objects that are offered to every young child who walks into a store. The work draws our attention to children's ordinary lives, demonstrating the hidden power and authority of pop culture. During the pandemic children cannot attend school and family members live and learn together in an unprecedented way. This situation has allowed me to observe the life of children more deeply. The impact of consumerism on childhood has already crossed the material boundary and infiltrated the childhood spirit.
