Nicholas Moynihan is a sound artist living in Canberra, Australia. His compositions combine environmental sound, music and abstract sound in order to investigate the phenomenological, affective and spiritual aspects of listening. Nicholas is currently in his final semester of an MFA at RMIT, specialising in sound art under the supervision of Philip Samartzis. He is also in his final semester of a BA at Deakin University (with majors in philosophy and religious studies). He previously studied film composition at AFTRS and has composed music for various short films and web-based content. Currently Nicholas is a member of The Sound Art and Auditory Culture Lab (SAAC) at RMIT, which is an interdisciplinary hub that researches the social, cultural and environmental properties of sound. Nicholas’ latest album, In the Midst of Silence, is available now on Bandcamp.
