Electric Bodies

I’m a print-based artist exploring themes of gender, sexuality and the intersection of these identities. My practice often lies in the space between figurative and abstract and utilises print mediums in linocut, screen-printing and collage while also incorporating digital elements. I incorporate fluid and skewed text to find balance between the recognisable and the illegible.

Electric Bodies explores gender presentation and sexuality through a distorted digital lens. Utilising glitch techniques I aim to subvert gender roles and performativity by warping traditional representations of bodies and societal expectations. In particular I want to critique unnecessary neologisms or gendered language that seeks to patronise or stereotype women. Through this project I want to upend and critique ideas of gender and queer womanhood. Glitch art allows me to physically break an image and disrupt messages and representations. It asks the viewer to challenge their own views and reflect on what part stereotypes have in their own life.
