Your Nothing Is My Something
I am an emerging contemporary artist from Naarm/Melbourne. My work explores my identity as a practicing religious woman and a feminist, discovering how bringing universal experiences into the open can form community and connection with others.
Using printmaking techniques as well as collage, photographic and digital processes within my work I utilise the vibrant history of the print as a poster specifically found in Melbourne print-based collectives. I enjoy exploring how I can communicate ideas through print media, especially using humour and text. Recently within my work I have been discussing themes of feminist burnout and using my practice as a form of cathartic expression.
My final works, Your Nothing Is My Something, discusses how resting and taking a step back is necessary to curbing burnout. Each work highlights the need for self compassion, rest and validation when we experience feminist burnout. These posters serve as a humorous reminder to take a break, recognise burnout and aim to provide some comfort to others feeling burnt out.
