Smacznego
My name is Jade Goodsall and I am an emerging artist with a multidisciplinary practice located in Naarm (Melbourne). Historically, I have created work with themes of culture and identity within who I am as a person. Diving into areas such as my own mental health, my queerness and as of late, learning specifically about my family culture, where I came from as a 3rd generation Polish immigrant and what that means to me.
Family has always been a driving force of inspiration for my art practice. Creating multiple works in many different mediums over the years have stemmed from the interest in my family heritage and culture along with the memories and traditions that my family holds dear.
This specific body of work, titled smacznego (translating to “enjoy your meal”), revolves specifically around my family’s food traditions; how we share our culture and heritage through recipes that have been passed down through generations and how we use this to connect during family gatherings.
