My name is Bobzii. I am an emerging non-binary Japanese-Australian artist practicing on the unceded lands of the Bunurong, Boon wurrung, Wurundjeri and Woi wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation. I was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1999 and raised in rural Victoria, Australia, before moving to Naarm/Melbourne to study fine art at RMIT University in 2018. I have been exhibiting since 2017 and my practice primarily comprises self-portraiture and absurdism using text, appropriation, performative video and 2-D visual art. My recent body of work explores my experiences and reactions to my response to isolation during Melbourne’s famous, record-breaking hard lockdowns.
