My work combines two elements that have been proved effective against COVID-19: Copper and Soap. I have created a series of rings using these two materials in the same way that you might use precious metal and gemstones.  I use soap as an artistic medium, not only for its versatility but also as a symbol for good hygiene. I am not creating a symbolic work but instead one with practical applications, hence the use of actual soap. The soap as a material adds ephemerality as the jewellery deteriorates through use. This use changes the value of the work from an aesthetic object to an essential and useful piece of jewellery.
