Guided by the figurative form, my practice elucidates the ‘other’, both arcane and familiar. Aspects of closeness and distance, autonomy and judgment, correspond to an ever-ambiguous oscillation and questioning of self. I am transfixed by the corporeal as the vessel of our lived experience; it centres my collective ontological visualisations. You will not be the person you have been, nor are you free of it; you have body nonetheless.

The paintings exist as stages. We become an audience, observing depictions of humanity in its strangeness. What’s projected and who’s observed conjures enigmas in place of straight forward meanings. Retaining ambiguity as if to humanise the inexplicable. Within the process of creating, what's expelled is only interrogated after the fact; I witness my work, observe the self and learn better my own place and disposition. The body is given space but one which is atemporal; they navigate one another in unease. Through distorting space against the figure, I recognise a human condition at the mercy of greater structures and time.
