"From a young age, I was introduced to and educated about your significance in my family. You were always there, but I never showed much interest. As I matured, I realised how unique and meaningful you are to me. Like the clothes I wash and re-wear, you are a part of me."

In recent times, I have been drawn to create art about my cultural identity. Through my practice, I aim to educate my audience on Slavic culture and the significance of cultural diversity in contemporary Australian society while also strengthening my own relationship with my ethnicity. when i was your age demonstrates the integration of Australian and Slavic culture – where all customs unite to influence the performance of my domestic sphere. I am a frequent and avid wearer of jeans – they are my favourite piece of clothing. By depicting flowers as allegories for Australian, Ukrainian and Serbian cultures on jeans I am able to highlight the importance of my cultural identity in my everyday life.
