I’m an actor and multidisciplinary artist and have been working within the arts for several years now. As someone with a background in theatre, my work is an amalgamation of performance and visual art. My practice is driven by my feminist politics and an insatiable need to uncover all facets of the female experience in all of its glorious and vexing forms. I incorporate poetry, photography, performance and video, utilising storytelling techniques to illuminate the seemingly mundane and to shine a light on the hidden corners of our experience. I play with the diaristic and explore different vehicles for confession. Impacted by limited access to our studios during lockdown, I have used this time to experiment and develop methods of making within the digital sphere. By taking ownership of all aspects of the filmmaking process I am subverting traditional patriarchal filmmaking techniques, and believe this in itself is a political statement. I hope to empower female-identifying audiences by seeing their own experience reflected back at them.
