I like Melbourne. If you have a look at the map of this city, see how the streets run parallel to each other. After intersecting with vertical streets, they regularly create square shaped spaces. I find this Melbourne character so interesting. Imagine our daily activity is going from one square to another. Like hopscotch.
My work is all about Melbourne and squares. The intention of this envelope series derives from the Covid period. Shops were closed and public spaces were limited. Places I am familiar with seem far from me and have become small. Thus I drew and folded these little spaces from memory, leaving the address of the places written on envelopes.
The materials I use and the concepts I focus on are based on everyday life, which you have never seen or touched before. I’m 100% sure. But I want to bring you new surprises through the use of daily objects and the simple concept of squares and Melbourne.
